Saved by the DELL !!

Following a spectacular morning with my lovely Rachel yesterday morning I was feeling a little worn around the edges so saved my blog for today.

I had a tip off that a local charity shop for Willen Hospice have some lovely vintage pieces so along we went. The tip was good…. YEEEEHA!

I think Rachel may have near lost the will to live but was a darn good sport about it, so I felt it only right and proper to take her back to mine, fill her full of Latte and talk sewing! How good of me, she doesn’t sew! In my mind I was doing a public service. By listening to me droan on she was able to zone out and enjoy some well earned alpha brain wave time, maybe it was that state of relaxation that made her fall asleep 😉

Why saved by the DELL ?

Amongst my purchases were some really funky 50’s designs. Only when I had a good look last night did I see the label Fibreglass!!! REALLY! Of course, like every other needlecraft move I make, I reported this detail to Del. I woke this morning to a mail concerned about what may happen if I cut this fabric…. small fibres and potential to get into airways. Immediately jumped on the internet whilst giving myself a very firm kick up the rear for not engaging my brain sooner (thankfully hadn’t cut into it).

Newly gained knowledge is that this product was considered a wonder product in the late 50’s. Non Crease, retains whiteness, fire retardant to name a few BUT we now know that it can cause dermatitis if handled too much.

A quick phone call to Willen and they were horrified to hear this could present a hazzard to health. A full refund has been approved …. I shall still spend it in the shop. Willen is such a valued resource in our community I couldn’t take the money and run. They have been totally honourable and they, like I have learnt something new. So really we were both saved by the DELL! x

Oh, my goodness… had no idea about this, Lovely One… Just thought, after a tussle with my sleepy conscience, that maybe you wouldn’t think me too much the worry wart if I sent a couple articles over to you. Waking up at stupid o’clock in the morning & logging into email ain’t the mark of a brain too much in gear! I was just hoping I wasn’t going to worry you over nothing (maybe there’d been some magical fix I didn’t know about). So glad I didn’t wait until a “decent hour.”

Never dreamt all this would transpire, as I got back to finish sleeping! So grateful you and those lovely ladies at the Hospice shop worked everything out, and everyone’s safely informed!.

You did find glorious treasures, too, and Rachel is such a doll to have gone with you and modeled!!! Must admit I was almost drooling over me keyboard watching your slide show. That sewing machine – a wooden case? The little green Singer box of attachments reminded me of the one me mum had with her machine – the machine I learned to sew on.

And the tea towels — NO ONE does tea towels like you folks!!! I am soooo dying to have that cloche, but couldn’t get it onto my ear, let alone my big head. That shop has gorgeous things!!! Handsome Hubby was so right to take you out for that drive Sunday!!! Love, hk to all,
    del
