The Goose Is Getting Fat …

…. really fat. Christmas is rapidly catching up and I am still not ready for Judy’s vintage fair.

Are artists ever ready?

That said, I have been running some ideas past my new best friend Del at Curlsnskirls who has been the most spectacular inspiration and guide. How much did I luck out getting Del as my swap buddy. Well done Kat for that one, international relations between Bedfordshire and Viginia are going swimmingly 🙂

I digress, here for your approval/comments are a few new creations. All have an element of GENUINE vintage, not vintage like or retro style. Good honest to God vintage.

The buttons are circa 1920’s glass made in England, probably in the Midlands. The cream and gold ric rac also made in England circa 1950’s and the flowers made from cushion trim is circa 1940’s with mother of pearl button centre’s again made in England.

Bit of an England theme there but I will have items with French glass buttons form the 1920’s, Italian lace from the same era but they are yet to be made. They are made in my head but of course no matter how creative you are, that’s a whole different creative skill to see in my messy old head 😉

Hope you like and welcome your feedback

Ta Dah!

The vintage pattern from (who also trade on e bay) after some studying worked out beautifully. You can see I made modifications as I was keen to use the ric rac.

The pattern being circa 1946 and from the USA took a little fathoming as they used very different ‘shorthand’ symbols but Sonny at the vintage pattern shop sent out a fantastic guide which I will use for many more projects. It shows how to size up and down patterns and gives excellent advice on fabric choice, To name but a few. Something intermediates will find invaluable!

Where Did Sunday Go?????

Following a lovely family party on Saturday night, merriment and dancing (no booze, I don’t drink), I was looking forward to my Sunday sewathon.

Big GAFAWF at this point….. Not a stitch was sewn and as a result no blog happiness that follows each Sunday Booooooo!

I believe the technical term for what happened yesterday is ‘getting old’.

There was a time when a 2am finish was an early night, nope not now. I floundered all day and landed up in my PJ’s lazing in front of the TV in and out of conciousness and before I knew it Sunday was no more! What a waste of a day, so with renewed vigour I have made a list for today given I am home for the day.

I have rooted around for a vintage pattern that I bought a couple of months ago (obssessed all night over it), well victory is mine 🙂

Vintage apron broderie anglais from stash and beautiful red ric rac from my swap partner Jacq are sitting awaiting my attention in the living room.

Just a couple of boring old house chores and then I’m on it! Of course dear reader will post here the finished result and as ever will welcome your comments……. Better get the boring atuff done, then its fun, fun, fun!
