Army Stands Guard …

.. For me, my growing army brings feelings of great satisfaction.

Not only do they guard my precious textiles but everytime I walk into what was our daughters bedroom ( was, as in she went off on a hoolie to the caribbean to stay with my darling friend at Coral Reef Beach, Aruba) I smile at those stylish old stylie guys.  Once a pair of barkcloth curtains they are bit by bit growing into my very own army!

As much as I love them they will have to be sold, for some reason the bank manager is very insistent on the mortgage being paid which is a dreadful bore!

You can see the bedroom rather resembles a girl cave, full of my favourite things and I am happy to report my much needed stock for Judy’s Vintage Fair in Spitalfields on 2nd November is beginning to shape up. Eldest daughter has also been hard at it so her little cottage is brimming too. Come the day we will have plenty of fare for the fair!

Keep your fingers crossed for us please, our tiny fledgling business may, with a kind wind behind us and an appreciative audience with money in their wallets could launch us in the direction we have dreamed of for so very long now.

As my faithful and kind readers I feel it only right that I whisper to you, and only you the new name we have decided upon, so sssssshush for now, just between me and thee:

ULTIMATE VINTAGE CYCLING by sewinloveuk

Next a proper, grown up website to sell our beauties. Feeling both excited and pretty darn scared, a healthy mix I am told.

Have a super weekend lovely people and hope your weather forecast is better than ours….. Rain, rain and more rain.  (Yep, the Brits really do always talk about the weather) x

Howdy!

Failure to comply with my own rule of blog each Sunday has led to an overwhelming feeling of bloguilt today!

I am battling with a vintage creation. A wonderful little clutch bag and maybe even a hat, think I have successfully deciphered the pattern but the vintage fabric isn’t being quite so compliant. I found an odd vintage curtain in the loveliest fabric and now know after cutting that I will in future put my fusible facing onto the fabric BEFORE cutting. Dabnabit, it slid all over the place ….. I think my dog was privy to a few unsavoury words as I chased it about.(fabric not the dog)

As a seasoned seamstress I knew full well to put it away for the day lest I take my hissy mood out on the make …. which I must confess I have done before. Outcome, everything goes even further south.

May get a bit done tomorrow but my priority is a private lesson with 2 utterly delightful ladies who have little ones who have dwarfism. This brings such challenges for them as they want for the gorgeous little ones to be dressed snazzily but off the shelf just doesn’t work. Whilst they learn tomorrow, I too shall be learning not having yet had the opportunity to teach this specialist area. I am expecting it to be fascinating as I so want to be able to pass some skills along that will in turn allow these devoted Mum’s to use their creative juices for there little loved ones.

Look forward to telling you all more about that at another time.
