Pretty Darn Pleased….

… with myself 😉

I actually did what I promised myself and made my maxi skirt. Did all the prep work last night and then went on to sew it together this afternoon. Had I not made a school girl error it would have easily been finished in an hour BUT as they say, MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE!

It didn’t occur to me that in the past few months I have become a rather odd shape. Uneven weight loss courtesy of the anxiety diet as left me with little sparrows knee cap legs no bottom and although smaller round my middle not proportionately so! Fortunately so many years of sewing gives one an ability to bodge at a pretty high level 🙂

A quick unpick (made LOADS easier by my magnifying light), some sewing witchcraft, restitch and the skirt now fits.

The whole experience was made so very much more pleasant as I saved the hand sewing of the waistband until my skype session with the lovely Dellis of curlsnskirls . I love a bit of hand sewing, but to sit in a warm kitchen on a wet and windy Saturday, cappuccino to hand and such great company really is the icing on the cake. Dellis was deftly crocheting as I hand stitched. That job done I took to finishing a task that I have let sit around for about 10 days now. A sweet little pair of fingerless mitts for DD1’s friend’s little girl. Our conversation meanders all over the place now we have got to know each other, I LOVE IT!

Nearly 2 hours later crafting complete we signed off, only because my tummy was growling for food. The 5 hour difference is a pest, either falls at meal time, bedtime or stupid o’clock for Dellis. That said I’m not really grumbling as I think it is AWESOME that we can even have this friendship, technology has shrunk the world hasn’t it? I wonder what I would have said in the 1970’s or 1980’s if you had told me I could have instant visual access to someone thousands of miles away? Probably would have thought you were barking mad!

Crisis Averted … WOWZA Day

Thanks to the wonders of the www AND the efficacy of the administrator address of swap partner safely in my possession so no further fears of letting Team GB down. PHEW!

Not only did this all come good BUT my sewing workshops have been so warmly received that I have another full workshop, a private tuition, a commission for a specialist piece for a Mencap production and requests galore for exciting and challenging workshops. Can’t wait …. life just gets better every day and this here blogging thingie is THE BEST for self confidence. So many interesting, intelligent and exciting people following, commenting.

THANK YOU!

Wednesday wonder ….. my day off WOOHOO!  Vintage fabric has arrived and is begging to become a maxi skirt and who am I to deny it this reasonable request. All being cool will make it’s dream come true tomorrow and this time I’m actually sewing for me, not the skinny daughter :0)
